The main performance of PCTFE
(1) Physical properties Polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE) is a crystalline polymer with a crystallinity of 85% to 95%. Its structural feature is that it has both isotactic and syndiotactic configurations. It appears to have a random configuration, so the product has good transparency. PCTFE is almost impermeable to moisture, has low air permeability and low water absorption, so it can maintain good insulation even in water.
(2) Mechanical properties The mechanical properties of PCTFE are related to molecular weight and processing conditions, and are closely related to crystallinity. Tensile strength, elastic modulus, bending performance and hardness all increase with the increase of crystallinity.
(3) Thermal performance The melting temperature of PCTFE is 212~217℃, the greater the crystallinity, the higher the melting temperature. The glass transition temperature (Tg) also varies with the degree of crystallinity. It is generally between 45 and 90°C, and it is about 50°C when measured by the thermal dilatometer. If PCTFE is kept at 260~280℃ for a long time, its molecular weight will decrease due to thermal decomposition.
(4) Electrical properties PCTFE molecule has both chlorine atoms with large volume and relatively small electronegativity, and fluorine atoms with relatively small volume and large electronegativity, and the arrangement is asymmetrical, so the molecule has polarity, and its tgδ and medium The electrical constant is not as good as PTFE, and tgδ is greatly affected by temperature and frequency. However, PCTFE has high volume resistivity and dielectric strength.
(5) Chemical resistance The chemical resistance of PCTFE is slightly inferior to PTFE, but it is still better than other plastics.
